I’ve always loved summer.  When I was younger, I loved that feeling of school letting out and having long glorious days ahead to indulge in some fun.  As you get older and enter the workforce, summer doesn’t really involve a change of routine, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add a little extra fun to your regular activities.

Here are some easy ways to make your summer a little bit more exciting.  They may not all be for you, but I’m sure there are at least a few to appeal to all on this list!

  • Have a picnic – extra bonus if you do it somewhere fun like the beach or a beautiful park
  • Get tickets to an outdoor concert• Try dining at a new restaurant – added bonus if they have a nice patio
  • Take a walk somewhere new
  • Get out of the city for a day
  • Attend a summer festival
  • Make a BBQ with friends – extra bonus if you add a fun summer cocktail
  •  Go camping/boating/hiking
  • Have a garage sale and then use the money for a little shopping spree
  • Plant a garden or grow some herbs – if that’s not your cup of tea, go to a farmer’s market or a “pick-your-own” farm
  • Go to an amusement park or splash park
  • Play some good old-fashion games like tag, red rover, hopscotch, hide & seek, jump rope, etc.
  • Have a water balloon fight
  • Make & blow bubbles
  • Do some summer reading outside
  • Play mini golf
  • Help your kids make a lemonade stand
  • Wash your car in the driveway
  • Jump through the sprinkler
  • Indulge is some summer culinary favorites – watermelon, strawberry shortcake, iced tea, ice cream, fresh berries, cherries, etc.
  • Capture the memories with lots of pictures
